About Ryan

Ryan Bryce Johnson, tenor, is a dynamic and versatile performer with experiences spanning opera and music theatre. He most recently made his debut at The Glimmerglass Festival as the Grand Inquistor and Governor in Bernstein’s masterpiece Candide. In 2024, Ryan will be making his debut at The Santa Fe Opera as Giuseppe in Verdi's La Traviata and Faninal's Major-Domo in Richard Strauss' Der Rosenkavalier. Ryan has enjoyed success in various singing competitions along with his performances. Most recently, Ryan won First prize in the 2023 Lotte Lenya Competition. Additionally, he has been a finalist for the George London Foundation Competition and a district winner for the Metropolitan Opera Council Auditions.

News & Upcoming Events

The Reef 

Ryan will be singing the role of Christophe de Chantal in a workshop of Anthony Davis' new opera The Reef with the Berkshire Opera Festival. Performance on April 10th. 

La Traviata

As one of the 2024 Apprentices  with The Santa Fe Opera, Ryan will perform the role of Giuseppe in Verdi's La Traviata. Performances run June 28–August 24.

Der Rosenkavalier

As one of the 2024 Apprentices with The Santa Fe Opera, Ryan will perform the role of Faninal's Major-Domo in Strauss' Der Rosenkavalier. Performances run July 20–August 15.
